Sylvan Forest
Products is a manufacturing and reload lumber company with a long
track record of facilitating government and military requirements.
We have developed and provide a wide array of high performance construction
products to the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard
and National Guard, as well as to independent airlines. Used around
water, chemicals, and under high abrasion and point loads, our products
deliver outstanding performance in the most demanding specialized
applications, as well as in general construction.
Current Government
Contracts
In April of 2001
Sylvan received it's second Prime Vendor Contract for the Northwest
Region. This includes Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana
and Northern California to Monterey. The award was made for a maximum
dollar amount of 13 million a year with 4 additional option years.
Under this contract we are currently supplying materials for the renovation
of an 1895 lumber schooner, the C.A. Thayer. This project is being
completed through the combined efforts of the San Francisco Maritime
Museum, National Park Service and National Historical Society. This
is a highly specialized project where we have supplied old growth
timbers up to 40' long.
Meanwhile,
Sylvan is currently fulfilling a 5-year, 15-million dollar Prime
Vendor Contract to South Korea. For both contracts, we supply all
lumber and building materials in quantities from partial units to
full containers and truck loads. Our primary shipping point for
Korea is in Tacoma, Washington, and we also have inventory at strategic
locations in California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to service
the western United States. Our lumber inventory ranges from 1" boards
up to 6" timbers and includes treated lumber as well. Our plywood
inventory includes grades from CDX to AAX, as well as hardwood plywood
and treated plywood... hundreds of items in all. In addition to
our inventory, we have a large supply network from which we can
ship nationwide.
Working Locally
and Worldwide
At Sylvan, we strive to partner with Small, Small Disadvantaged, Veteran
and Women-owned Businesses, wherever and whenever we can. This includes
sub-contracts for service and sales work, as well as for purchases.
From October 2000 to September 2001 our purchases with these companies
accounted for 80% of our sales.
In addition
to making overseas shipments to our Government Division customers,
Sylvan supplies a worldwide roster of commercial customers with
products such as our trademarked panels for Mezzanine floor systems,
concrete form panels, marina panels, aircraft tarmac panels and
industrial wall, ceiling and floor panels. Other items include lumber,
plywood, concrete forming, mouldings, doors, chamfer, dowels, siding,
I-beams, banding, decking, fencing, poles, crossarms, wedges, plugs,
LVL, scaffold planking and treated material. Our staff has the technical
skills and background to assist the government buyer in reviewing
several price and performance options in each product category.
Purchases can be made through the standard supply system, MIL-STRIP,
email, fax, phone, or small purchases may be transacted via government
credit card (IMPAC), or at the NSN
